Has Obama formed what you might call a "cult" amongst his supporters/followers ?

I feel scared when I hear how the Obama supporters back and support him as if they have no filter in their brain...it's as if they are just regurgitating what his views are verbatim ? No republicans have done this in the past, regardless of whether he/she voted for him. Please explain the cult.
