Anyone know what a round gameboard with the symbols of an owl, an anchor, amoungst 20 others would be used for?

I am pretty sure it's a table topper similar to a ouija board. You would place it on top of a table and use some sort of pointer or planchette to guide your hands to each symbol for messages from spirits. Each symbol would have a meaning according to a chart or book. I have a "psychic" board that is similar. It's a "game" meant to be less threatening/with less bad associations than the typical ouija board. A shot glass or glass can be used in place of the planchhette.
