Any theists that think religion gives theism a bad name?

Just me or does religion (except for maybe some of the Asian ones) tend to give theism a bad name? E.g. People who havn't really thought about god wondering around arguing on the side of theism by regurgitating bad arguments that "support" their particular spoon fed god. Is it the fault of organised religion that the topic of god's existence is such a heated debate??
