I think I might become an orthodontist, how do I know if the job is right for me?

I am debating between whether becoming a reporter/anchor or an orthodontist. I like reporting but I don't know if I will like the job of an orthodontist. I have braces so every time I go to the orthodontist I find it very interesting. I just don't know if the job is right for me? Also, do orthodontists have to perform oral surgeries?
